UK : Ofcom has published its Infrastructure Report update

In particular, it considers the need to migrate from IPv4 – the established internet addressing protocol, for which the availability of unique addresses is increasingly limited – to IPv6. Ofcom is today also publishing two pieces of research in this area, which it commissioned from InterConnect Communications. The “Internet Protocol Version 6 Deployment” study examines the challenges of migrating to IPv6, while the “Report on the Implications of Carrier Grade NATs” considers a technology used to share IPv4 addresses as a means of extending their availability while IPv4 remains in widespread use.
